Nollywood

In the early nineties, an audiovisual industry began to proliferate in Nigeria and has now become a huge phenomenon in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is known as Nollywood because it is considered the world?s third largest audiovisual producer. Nigerian video is characterised for films made on tiny budgets, recorded with digital cameras and distributed directly on DVD, with enormous success.
  • Letters to a Stranger (Letters to a Stranger)

    Fred Amata

Genevieve Nnaji, one of the most beautiful stars of Nollywood, plays the role of Jemina, a woman who cannot decide between two men. Even though she has been involved with Frederick for five years, their relationship becomes unstable when Sadiq comes into her life.
Beautiful women, fashionable clothes, smart and sensitive men, and, of course, love affairs, ensure the success of this film that forms part of Project Nollywood, the first to be financed by a banking institution.

The documentary Peace Mission offers a panoramic view of the new industry that is revolutionizing the film world, or to be more precise, the video world. It is about the movement that began in Lagos, the capital of Nigeria, and which has turned the country into the centre of one of the world’s largest film industries.
Guided by the producer and founder of the African Film Academy, Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima, we will visit the places where this miracle is underway. Encounters with filmmakers and producers help us understand the workings of what is now generally known as Nollywood.
